Choosing your mount type
When deciding on the perfect mount type for your zebra blinds, you have two primary options: inside mount and outside mount. Each type offers distinct advantages and can affect the overall appearance and functionality of your blinds.
Inside Mount
An inside mount places the blinds within the window frame. This option provides a sleek, clean look as the blinds sit flush with the window, highlighting the window trim and creating a more integrated appearance.
Outside Mount
An outside mount installs the blinds on the wall or ceiling outside the window frame. This option offers more flexibility in terms of placement and can make the window appear larger.

Window measuring help
Proper measurements are crucial for ensuring that your zebra blinds fit perfectly, whether you choose an inside mount or an outside mount. Follow these steps to measure your windows accurately.
Before you start:
- Always use a steel tape measure for accuracy.
- Double-check your measurements to ensure they are correct.
- For inside mounts, ensure the window frame is not obstructed by handles or locks.
Inside Mount Measurements
Measure the depth
Measure the depth from the front edge of the window frame to the back where the blind will be mounted. Ensure the depth is sufficient for the blinds to fit. Our blinds require a minimum depth of 70 mm (2.75 in) clearance for standard blinds and 90 mm (3.5 in) for premium blinds for a flush inside mount.
Example: If the depth is 85 mm (3.35 in), our standard blinds will fit. If it's less than 70 mm (2.75 in) for our standard blinds, consider an outside mount.
Measure the width
Measure the inside width of the window at the top, middle, and bottom. Record the narrowest measurement to ensure the blinds fit within the frame without obstruction.
Example: Top width = 35 inches, Middle width = 35.2 inches, Bottom width = 34.8 inches. Use 34.8 inches as the final width measurement.
Measure the height
Measure the inside height of the window at the left, center, and right. Use the longest measurement to ensure full coverage.
Example: Left height = 60 inches, Center height = 60.1 inches, Right height = 59.9 inches. Use 60.1 inches as the final height measurement.
Outside Mount Measurements
Measure the width
Measure the total width of the area you want to cover, including any desired overlap on each side of the window. We recommend adding at least 2-3 inches on each side for optimal light control and privacy.
Example: Window width = 34.8 inches. Add 3 inches on each side for a total width of 40.8 inches.
Measure the height
Measure from the top of the mounting area to the desired bottom point. We recommend adding at least 2-3 inches above the window frame for mounting and ensuring full coverage below the window sill.
Example: Window height = 60.1 inches. Add 3 inches above and below for a total height of 66.1 inches.
